There are several compelling reasons why students should consider UK College very seriously.
We provide a safe supportive environment that is conducive to good learning and is modern and pleasant. Therefore we:
- Help students to undertake and transition from coursework-only courses to coursework + exam courses; this is atypical in our undergraduate courses where students migrate from a coursework-based HNC 1st year, through to a coursework + exam final year leading to a BSc or BA. This helps students build their confidence and improves their capabilities and performance.
- Multi-part pieces of coursework – where for given coursework, students have to complete each component part and this is marked and assessed by UK College lecturers. The lecturers provide feedback on every part, identifying the students’ areas of strength and most importantly identifying what they should have done to get better grades. This enables the student to produce increasingly higher quality work and enhances their overall performance.
We employ qualified, caring tutorial and administerative staff.
Our staff are highly experienced and qualified upto PhD and MBA levels. They comprise of academics and industry-professionals and provide students with the skills and knowledge to them for employment.
Staff at UKCAT have not only got vast experience of delivering courses, student care, assistance with immigration matters, visa applications, university and work placement procedures and quality control. We have a range of facilities including play facilities and a crèche for those with young children. The College building offers appropriate sized and well-equipped classrooms, together with a common room and light refreshment facilities. Locally there are many culturally diverse food and entertainment outlets and easy access to all that both Manchester and Stockport city centres have to offer, including prospects for part time jobs. Local and affordable student accommodation is also available.
We provide opportunities for our students to experience and be involved in the renowned extra-curricular UK student life Social clubs of College
We have a team of volunteers (students) who run different clubs ie sports clubs, social clubs etc. If you want to join these clubs on arrival please contact our management we will put you through relevant person.
In addition, UK College also provides its students free access to the Manchester libraries, Students Union, sports and fitness centre and a full social programme of activities and visits.
We have a community focused rather than profit making approach. Our area is viewed by many to be in need of regeneration, has a high ethnic population and has many who are unemployed. We identify the needs in our own locality first and foremost and aim to put something back into our local community.
We have strong links with other providers in the community which we are constantly aiming to strengthen. UKCAT is continuously working with Manchester City council through different contracts to train local students by offering courses in ICT, English language, confidence building, developing employment skills to get them to prosperous employment. This makes us different from others and we have a database of local employers and help our students to get to employment.
UKCAT is proud to be an Equal Opportunities training provider. We will not discriminate on the grounds of gender, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, sexuality, disability, religious or political belief, marital status or age.
We help build skills essential for work.
On an ongoing basis, UK College reviews and modifies its courses to ensure that they reflect tomorrow's needs, not yesterday’s. This means that we focus not only on academic mastery, but the practical skills necessary to be an effective employee. Students are encouraged to apply their academic learning to real life situations. No wonder that our students obtain work placements and commence successful careers with some of the world’s leading brand name firms and blue chip organisations!
We also understand that some of our students need to undertake part time work in the UK to supplement their incomes. UK College structures its lessons and tutorials to facilitate enough time for its students to do their research, complete their coursework and also undertake part time work if necessary.
Our courses are excellent value for money and virtually half price compared to some other educational establishments
UK College courses are very cost effective compared to other educational establishments. Depending on the specific course, our prices for undergraduate study are virtually 50% cheaper. We achieve this without compromising the quality or excellence of the education offered. Specifically, we achieve this by focusing our resources into the important areas – the quality of our teaching staff, the learning facilities, the course material, the learning environment and facilities and the student performance improvement processes. Further, being an independent college, we are not compelled systemically to charge our students a high minimum charge.
