Travelling abroad can be stressful. To help you with your travel arrangements to the UK and through customs as simple and as enjoyable as possible, please read the following instructions.
Whilst you are on the aircraft you will be given a landing card. Complete this and, before you leave the aircraft in the UK , make sure you have your ticket, passport and landing card ready.
You should also have your “Unconditional Letter” from this college ready to show to the Immigration Officer if requested. Follow the signs for “Non EU Countries”. You may have to join a queue. There is no need to be frightened or worried. Show your documents and passport when you reach the front of the queue or when asked by an Immigration Officer. These are general security measurers.
Proceed to “Baggage Reclaim” to collect your luggage (look on the TV screen for the carousel number). When you have your luggage, follow the signs for “Customs”. Go through the “Green” section if you have nothing to declare. Once through Customs, follow the Exit signs . Then look for someone holding a large card with “ UKCAT” on it. This is your driver. If you cannot find your driver, please go to the “Information” Desk and ask if they have a message for you. Give your full name clearly or show them your Confirmation Letter.
If they do not have a message for you, ask them to call out the name “UKCAT”. You may phone the driver yourself. His phone number will be on your Airport Confirmation form. In the case of an emergency, please phone UKCAT between 08:30 and 17:00 Monday to Thursday (16:30 on Friday ) on +44 (0)161 248 9100 or 0845 257 1864. If you are arriving out of College hours, you may use the College emergency phone number, +44 (0)7749176355 ( for emergencies only). HAVE A COPY OF THIS FORM IN YOUR HAND LUGGAGE WHERE YOU CAN EASILY FIND IT.
